Project Independence's philosophy is that all individuals, regardless of their race, sex, age, level of functioning, or inability to pay for service provision shall be afforded all opportunities to develop and function as integral members of the community and society at large. The primary goal of the agency is to provide a person-centered approach to individualized service provision. Project Independence provides the more appropriate learning environment and level of supervision to facilitate the individual access to community services, as well as community integration. Project Independence consistently maintains the integrity of consumer choice, health, safety, and welfare as paramount to the services provided.

Recreation/Family Support Services

Recreation/Family Support Services is a program of social, recreational and leisure activities that are intellectually and interpersonally stimulating for people between the ages of 5 and 65.

Residential Services

Residential Services has two distinct programs.

The Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA) and Spruce Manor provides assistance with the acquisition, retention or improvement of self-help skills related to activities of daily living to people over the age of 18, in a residential setting.
The Supportive Apartment Program allows for supervised living for developmentally disabled people over the age of 18 in a private apartment setting.

Medicaid Services

Service Coordination plays an important role in
improving the quality of life for people who are developmentally disabled and their families.
It is a service that assists people with developmental disabilities to gain access to necessary services and supports appropriate to the needs of the individual. A Service Coordinator promotes the concepts of choice, consumer satisfaction and individualized supports and services. This may include helping to find and apply for special funding, serving as a liaison with schools or medical providers or providing guidance regarding living or day program options.
