Our activity department is
responsible for maintaining an effective therapeutic recreation
service which will provide the incentive and opportunity for a
resident to utilize their full potential of mental and
physical abilities thereby enhancing the quality of their lives. We also strive to make leisure time both productive and enjoyable
by encouraging socialization and to assist the resident/patient in
making the adjustment to their changing environment. Residents/patients are directly involved in planning activities through the Resident's Council. On admission and throughout the year, assessments are completed on each resident to determine what type of activities are best suited for him/her. A monthly schedule of events is posted on each unit as well as in each resident room. Individualized activities are provided for those who do not wish to attend or who cannot benefit from group programs. Our facility participates in the Eden Alternative which utilizes a combination of plants and pets and interaction with children to enhance the lives of our residents. We currently have a cat, fish and several birds that reside here. Many programs involve participation from area schools and organizations that allow for interaction between our residents and children of all ages.
